...he always left some walls standing
Was it an AI error or because he was avoiding a dispel on himself?

I don't remember everything but it was something like this:

Code: Select all
|    C
||CWW
|DDDW
|DDDW
|DDDW
|CWWWC
|

| = wall/pillar
C = player character
D = dragon
W = magic stone wall

I haven't thought about that he could have avoided to cast it on himself. I thought he was trying to cast it on the stone wall as well as on my characters at the same time. Some of my characters had resistance spells (acid or something)... But I don't remember if he also casted it on characters that had no spells on them.
I think he could have casted the spell on the right vertical wall and escape immediately, but he didn't seem to try that.
After a while he stopped casting dispel, I guess he ran out of dispel spells...

Thanks, I can see it's a rather complicated situation - as you said there's an interest in removing your resistances, and also two of your characters were adjacent to him (and so in melee range), so theoretically he could just attack your characters without worrying about the wall (as long as some of your chars remain adjacent).
It goes to show that the wall of stone spell can be very useful when used smartly.
