But DR490N has a point, I think there was such a mod for PS:T for instance. With higher res you would just see a larger area, without the sprites getting bloated up. That would be an improvement.
REALLY better not to go the route of trying to get this enmeshed in an official manner...they really aren't friendly about anything hence the importance of the OGL stuff and the like. "Professionalism" is the furthest thing from the minds of those lording over the D&D affairs nowadays.
