sadly wall of stone won't help you much, it will be dispelled immediately anyway. Mass Dominate is a key spell in this fight imo.

True, mass dominate for the balors. And dominate undead for the vampires.

I can't argue with the success you guys have had. The closest I have come was when the party retreated from the opening in the Keep, and then put down a Wall of Stone, forcing the enemy to approach one at a time. We got that Vrock, Mephasm-whats-his-name down to about 100 hp, before things went badly.

Also, I don't think we were properly prepared and I still have to go back to stock up on high-level cleric scrolls.

Quoris is utterly useless. I bet if I had our classic 6 person party, though, we could win...

you'll need scrolls, that's a fact. I had the following scrolls approx:
10x mass heal
10x mass harm
10x mass death ward (if dispelled recast asap)
10x true res
10x dominate monster
10x mass hold monster
10x control monster (didn't use but anyway)
10x greater disintegrate
10x dance
10x dehydrate
10x dominate undead

and a couple more scrolls. of course I didn't use them up but I was prepared.

What is considered a decent stash by the end of the game, anyway? I think we have about 1.5 million banked. Pretty sure we did not hit 2 million in gold.

I got more money than that, but I finished the last fight with less scrolls. Actually had no priest scrolls (but had 2 priests), and only 5 dominate monster, 5 dehydration, 3 dance, and a few of random spells that I though could be useful.

If you have more scrolls of Wall of Stone than they dispel charges...
