What exactly is the point in that?

On my third attempt my crew is maxed out.....
your still way over classed, I can maybe stretch it out a bit more and with a lot of luck and multiple attempts kill the red dragon, but no way defeat the mass of monsters at the KotC castle gate.
If only magic will win it then why bother with the non magic PCs at all?

Ah, yes. The KotC 1 final battle at the gate. Well, it's not really necessary to do it, you've already completed the game and that battle is a bit like the ADOM ultra-endings. You can do it with three casters, though. I did it with two clerics and one wizard. Cheers

That was really my point magic users are way better for the final battles, so you might as well go for these from the beginning...
I was using a mixed group what I would consider balanced and for most of the game this worked out fine...
