Just a few bits that seem off the radar for most folk/places

Torchlight on PC

http://www.torchlightgame.com/developer ... rt-1-of-3/

If this video and the rest onsite doesn't set some wheels spinning then I just don't know what to say. $20-30 price point is none too shabby either.

Dungeon Delvers on PC

http://www.runesword.com/ddfaq.html

No telling when per se, but I've a good feeling about this one when it does. Especially at $20ish

Fighting Fantasy: Warlock of Firetop Mountain on Nintendo DS

http://www.siliconera.com/2009/08/20/le ... -mountain/

Seems to be a serious effort at a First Person CRPG on the DS at long last that gives me vibes of the classic Hexen series, which is nifty since that vibe all but disappeared back then.

Honorable Darkhorse mentions: Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga apparently coming out on the Wii in a week or so for $40 seems like it might have a substantial number of tried and true hack n' slash dungeon crawling elements well wrought within it amongst some familiar Jrpg and western RPG trappings.

I am looking forward to Eschalon Book ii from http://www.basiliskgames.com

I am also looking forward to Avernum 6 by http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com

Also, http://www.gog.com is supposed to be coming out with a version of Might and Magic 6 which includes the first five games as part of the package for $9.99 that does not require dosbox to play. It should be a nice thing to get when it comes out.

Looks really neat. On the other hand, seeing as Sacred 2 was fairly recently released on both consoles and PC and Blizzard's unstoppable juggernaut Diablo III is currently in development I'm not sure I personally feel a great need for more action RPGs of this particular kind.

Nice, looks very much like id Software's Orcs & Elves to me (http://www.orcsandelves.com).

Yes, the sexy graphics/engine overhaul is reason enough alone to be excited about Vogel's upcoming Avernum game...

I'm looking forward to the GOG release of the Limited Edition of MM6. Just a clarification: GOG does in fact use DOSBox for all their DOS-based games, as you can see by taking a look in the directories where you've installed the games. As it happens, I'm no big fan of GOG's pre-configured DOSBox settings since my computer is quite slow, and in order to get a good frame rate I usually have to manually change these anyway by messing around with the respective .ini files.

The Torchlight editor, Preditor, is the main draw to the game aside from the game itself...it seems to be powerful to the degree that you could wrangle things other than Action-RPG's in the Sacred/Diablo style with it. Plus with the FATE/Mythos people behind it there should be a fairly different feel to it than the above mentioned.

While there's little doubt that the editor looks very good so far, I somehow find it a bit hard to believe that it could really stray that far from the "single-character dungeon crawling with real-time combat" formula. Big budget releases like NWN1/NWN2 and Morrowind/Oblivion also included comparatively advanced editors but to the best of my knowledge none of them could fundamentally alter the basic elements which determined how the game was played.

But maybe I simply don't know enough about mod making...

Haven't played Fate much, but wasn't that game simply a neat little Diablo clone with more colorful graphics? And while the Mythos people (formerly Flagship Studios) may not be able to count Bill Roper among their ranks this time around, the Blizzard connection is obviously very strong there too.

That said, I guess Fate's substantial fan base combined with the MMO project and a comparatively imminent release are all factors which bode well for Torchlight (the latter aspect being especially significant considering that Diablo III apparently won't even come out during 2010).

Yep, it's basically Diablo I with better graphics and "cute" characters. I like to play it on and off when I want some mindless dungeon crawling in between RPG/Strategy gaming sessions (It actually reminds me of Nethack, because of your trusty pet).

The Dungeon Treasure forum is alive again, and not just spam anymore! They've still been chugging along at it on all fronts...but are currently bogged down in the Java wranglings.
