Good CRPG to help wend away hours till KOTC2

Dark disciples 2 by dodgysoft, its totally free and had loads of levels, good enough graphics for a crpg, nice thoughtfull design, lots of suprises.

Not as good as KOTC, but still dam good.

Have to find the website yourself.

PS if anyone knows the pattern your meant to put into the first quest (you will know when you find it) i would like to know, i could not figure it out, even though it is mentioned in walkthrough.

This is a good game. It has the best puzzles I have seen in an RPG. The website is:

http://www.dodgysoft.com/

I just started a replay last night. When I get to that puzzle I'll post the answer.

Which quest/puzzle were you having trouble with?

Hello I am stuck on:

Section 3: The Cult of the Black Hand Arises (Module 1)

• In the next area is a pictogram puzzle on a pedestal. Reproduce the Cultist symbol you noted on the floor near the entrance to the cultist’s main lair. This opens up the second portcullis.

The above clue is given but i have no idea what the pattern should be to open up the portculis i cant really see one anywhere to copy.

I had a hard time with that one too. I think there is a hidden door in another set of tunnels (the ones below the light house I think) which contain a room with an obvious pattern on the floor. The only way to find the hidden door is to "bump" into it.

I'm not on my gaming computer at the moment, but when I get home I can verify the above and post coordinates for the door.

edit: It is the basement of the light house. There is a hidden door at x=30, y=27. There some stairs that go down to the cultists lair. There is a big pattern on the floor of this lower level.

Unepic is a real-time platformer, so nothing like KotC, but with exceptional design. I don't like platformers or ever play them, but this one has a lot of heart, and more importantly a demo so you can check it out with no obligation.

The AoD combat demo will also help you kill some hours and is also free.

How about Frozen Synapse? Same deal: tactical strategy, free demo.

I don't think I ever in my life had so many games I wanted to play as I have in 2011.

@ Screeg: I don't know what game you are thinking of, but Dark Disciples II by Dodgysoft is neither real time nor a platformer. Of recent games I would say the gameplay is most similar to Echalon Books 1 & 2, but the puzzles are far better.

Uh, what? Unepic. I linked it this time so you won't have to search for it. :)

Oh I get it. I thought you were commenting on the game we were talking about. You were instead bringing up a new game. I might check it out, but like you I don't generally like these kind of games.
